PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2024 #28

The week is ending, so naturally a new playlist is out on the blog! Once more, let’s jump in and discover a dozen cool tracks to discover!

It’s VANDALISBIN’s marked vocals that open this week’s playlist with Bottle of Wisdom, and there the artist goes is soft, broken and upbeat at the same time. Following her is Break the Senses, passionate on IJWL (standing for I Just Wanna Love) – and here their riffs can really set fire to the room! A tad quieter, and full of sunshine, Naked and Alive by Milky Chance doesn’t lower the temperature as it settles a precious summer hit to keep close. And for summer nights, the one that makes us shiver, Sleeping Giant by longtide has a perfect atmosphere, between sharp riffs and round bass lines.

Then, we need to head down to the lower level of the nearby club to discover MBUR with Watch Your Step where the band doesn’t choose between kind and dirty rock. They are closely followed by Sugar Roulette with the catchy, fun and gripping The Devil’s In The Detail. If you are looking to awaken your teenage self, then the emo pop-punk of Empty by Capture This will work wonders. It can really spark nostalgia through effective riffs. And those by Porcelain Doll also have what it takes to shake us up on the cathartic Breakdown, wondering about therapy.

With By Design, Amongst Liars builds up a similar atmosphere. The band has invited Felin on the track who gives more depth to its metal undertones. KOTA! also picks her influences in this rich genre and adds hypnotic saturated colours to it on Killin’ It, a great blend! Then, it’s time to catch our breath as we reach the end of the playlist of the week. It goes through the soft rock of Following April with Broken Handed, and with the ethereal Underwater by ::Shefound::. These two songs come in contrast with the rest, and with each other, thanks to their distinct vocals, but also bring peace to the table, which seems necessary right now.
