After a quiet week, ideal for our little break, the blog is back with our infamous playlist. And it’s full of unmissable tracks, check it out!
It’s the ever-mysterious duo Bad Flamingo who opens this week’s playlist. With the calm and intoxicating Days of Mellow, their hyper-textured desertic universe keeps growing. They are followed by the Irish band Queen Bitch, and their new single holding a great progression, Peaceful Feeling. This over-six-minute-long track is also pretty gripping. Energy goes up an inch with 23 by Pseudopomp. The London-based duo gets their bouncy riffs raining on us with a touch of bitter-less nostalgia. Similarly, Out in Front proposes Happy Graduation Day, their passionate pop-punk anthem. Their synths add some great layers to it all and it’s captivating.
Then, it’s up to The Meringues to shine with a free post-punk duet. Saturated chaos, both in sound and colours, Shambles is a great representative of the band’s vivid style. Next, Casino Havana offers a dive into the depths of the world through their new release How Does It Feel? Dark and fascinating, it’s also a pretty epic explosive song. Also pretty energetic, SOFT NO gets Melting Timelines. With enigmatic vocals, well highlighted by powerful bright riffs, the band beautifully flirts with 90s rock and shoegaze. In a very 90s’ tone, although on the Brit punk side of things, Uncle Dad & The Day Drinkers is a revelation with Real Men Were Real Then, pointing out the absurdity of the idea of ‘a real man’ with an ironic tone and direct lyrics.
For the last part of this week’s playlist, I wanted to surprise myself. It started with Maze, an epic electro-rock song by Moon Date, and an ideal transition into it with its vivid, lightly vintage, and adventurous energy. Then, we land in Japan with Visual Kei band VIVARUSH, obviously bright on EMPEROR TIME (opening to Tasūketsu: Fate of the Majority) and wonderfully combining pop, metal and EDM. In a more vaporous, MILLENNIUM PARADE is back with M4D LUV, and its rather hallucinogenic world. Last, but not least, it’s the idol band Momoiro Clover Z released the ultra-convincing sweet pop track レナセールセレナーデ(Renacer Serenade), for the opening of the popular anime That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. They might all have really different atmospheres, but all of them are incredible!
