The weekend is around the corner, and we’re ready to party! Here’s my playlist of the week, high in energy, of course!
First, Ménades are back on the blog, showing more of their future album’s colours (I’ll keep an eye out) with Sur Leurs Cendres. It’s as fiery and cathartic as it is raw and raging. Therefore, a great way to open the playlist this week! With a great deal of energy too, and a softer tone, let’s jump into Fencer’s SUV. The single does make me want to join them for a last-minute road trip here! The Grumpy Custard (what a name!) then proposes the fun-despite-its-theme and memorable Kleptomania, between indie rock and shiny Brit pop. In an explosive style, and with more of an electro-rock production, here is the great collab between Jennings Couch and Izzy T, who we love. The result is the super-catchy Let’s Not Forget. Their voices complement each other beautifully through captivating verses and unforgettable choruses!
Captivating complementary vocals, I have more to push forward with the American duo Melee Fairy and their perfect chemistry. On the cathartic Full-Tilt, they’re going right ahead with anthemic sounds. It’s unmissable! Then, it’s up to Irish artist Haha Hear Hear to play with genres to create the hypnotic alt-rock track Demons Don’t Sleep. And if they don’t, might as well electricise them, right? Ella Hoff follows suit with the powerful When Are You Coming My Way. Here, she reveals impressive vocals and bright riffs, making it all pretty motivating. A tad more classic comes The Picture with Shock Doctrine, an extract from their new album We Are Not Myths. There, the balance between US rock and Brit-Pop is as exact as the one between melancholia and the will to fight found in the melody.
We then welcome back Mara V on the blog, with a new track named You Push Me Down. Here, she takes a turn for pop-vintage between freedom and anxiety, and she nails it. We need to go back to school for what’s next, accepting all good and bad memories. I really related to Chas Leman’s track, the upbeat and kind The Last Boys To Be Picked At Football. That’s thanks to its warm, bittersweetness and soothing tone. Now, it’s time to burn again with Desperate Man, an audacious garage blues rock track by Justin Webb & The Noise, and another unmissable song! To end the playlist this week, let’s slide to a rock playing with noise, hardcore and fierce punk with WTFU by Some Gifts. To me, all of them are easy to play on repeat, so enjoy!
