There we are, it’s coming. The last playlist of the week for the year 2024. No recap here, but plenty of tracks to discover and enjoy… Let’s go!
The first track matches the genres I’ve shared the most. Big riffs, a crazy attitude and a catchy chorus that hits hard. And we have Dead Poet Society and The Warning to thank for that, through the track HURT. It’s absolutely irresistible! To stay in the same vein, we then move on to Mother Teresa by Barns Courtney. It’s hard to escape those bewitching voices and huge bangs! Blurry Paige keeps up naturally and follows them with the very fun, catchy and addictive Reaper. Guitars first and a clear voice, I couldn’t help but fall under its spell! Suspended 4th keeps the rhythm up with the excellent CULT SPEAKERS and its beautiful saturated guitars. It’s a total discovery and one of my favourites!
The Sherlocks then burst in the playlist of the week with perhaps one of their most aggressive tracks. The band is evolving quite a bit and, with Bones, has signed a future classic of their discography! Then comes an unexpected but completely successful collaboration. Imagine Dragons invite the unique Ado on Take Me to the Beach. Soft pop-rock with powerful vocals, it’s catchy as hell and a must-listen! We keep electricity in the air as the atmosphere becomes rather mysterious with What A Dance by Safe Crash – a band to keep an eye on! For Telenova, it’s time to unveil warm tones with the beautiful Discothèque Dans Ma Tête. A track that will light up the dancefloor with grace at the end of the year.
To soothe the wounds and sorrows of the year, here are a few tracks with ideal sweetness and light. First Make Me Happy, from the British band Domino Wave, pretty direct but with pure tenderness. Then, we head to Japan, once again, with Counterspell and its optimistic Festival of Eden. Both tracks are very promising and I hope to hear more from these two bands next year! Very gentle too, we discover The Mesa with the polished folk Window. What beautiful textures with its orchestral arrangements and saturated guitar! To finish this playlist of the week, we talk politics. Because it was a pretty crazy year in that respect… So I’ll let Delilah Bon talk about it with the sober, captivating and emotional Not The President. See you in 2025!
