PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2025 #1

After a brief early-year break, the Playlist of the Week is back for 2025! So, despite the news, Happy New Year!

Let’s dive straight in with The Velveteers, who kick off this playlist of the week with On And On. Addictive punk riffs, some bite, and an insanely catchy melody – the perfect way to get things started! Next up are The Sex Guys, bringing boundless energy and a sharp, punchy flow with Tin Foil Hat. This is definitely a band to keep an eye on! Then comes Viscula, a very promising Ukrainian band, with Art of Tear. The raw textures of the guitars and vocals immediately grabbed my attention! PAULA T follows with Canary, delivering a natural rock vibe, a steady vocal opening, and some surprising bursts of distortion.

We then take a more pop-oriented turn, while still keeping strong punk influences, with Happy Nante by Saba Sister. Radiant and full of infectious energy, it’s a real mood booster! Equally communicative are the takeaways, who pull us along with them in Victim on the Dancefloor. Packed with attitude, it hits hard! On a more epic note, we discover the uplifting NEW DAY RISING. by KONG. With powerful choruses, it’s nothing short of inspiring. Staying on a positive note, Creature Canyon gives us a musical hug with Even on My Worst Days, a track that truly helps during tough times.

Vonnie Kyle also makes herself heard with similar energy, adding a defiant touch in the warm Here and Still Alive. No doubt, this will become a classic for the artist. Salt River Shakedown follows with Out in all Weather, a hypnotic track with a build that reaches epic and powerful heights. Then, a change of pace leads us to something softer – the enchanting trip-hop world of Dissolved Girl. Their latest single, Dirty Tricks, completely drew me in. Finally, to wrap up this first playlist of the week of 2025, a personal favourite: Celeste’s new single, Everyday. Mixing dream and reality with guitar distortions and her ethereal voice, it’s sublime!
