PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2025 #9

The playlist of the week is here, and because it’s our tradition, it’s time to fill it with very cool tracks! Get your headphones ready!

I add a new favourite as we start the playlist of the week, as we discover a brand-new J-Rock track made in France! Indeed, Days of Dash! invoke with Hiraeth the feeling one gets when finishing a piece of work, and it’s an epic emotional banger worth discovering! They’re followed by rising star Ava Della Pietra and her polished dramatic universe. She delivers a hypnotic and chilling track with the pop-rock Marionette, and the music video is just as captivating as the sound! Also pop-rock, but a bit more feisty, here’s ILUKA with her new feminist anthem Woman Gone Mad. With her raspy voice, she makes this deeply political track a must-hear! For Megan Winsor, things get personal. She collaborates with Sonnemm to bring us the stoner SILVER LINING and enchants us with her sublime voice and deep riffs.

In the grunge rock genre that really bites, we then discover Alligator Ladies, who dare to get lost on holiday with Where Should We Go. We leave this almost surf-rock vibe behind to jump into something a bit more punk with Strawberry Moon. The band needs to say things straight, and they do so with simple, saturated chords in Speak My Mind. That too has a bite, and I love it! No slowing down in sight, but a bit of a blend as we discover FREAK with the excellent YOU BLEED ME. He balances his electro beats with very punk riffs and a distinct vocal tone. The result is catchier than you might think! A bit calmer but just as catchy, Oswald Slain (formerly Little Thief) arrives with UGLY. The track is intriguing, sexy, and vibrant – a flawless hit!

Let’s add a few synths – but not too many – for a blazing dancefloor. First up, it’s The Origin with I Gotta Get Outta Here, and the energy quickly shifts into urgency. Initially full of hope, you can feel the anxiety building in its pounding chorus! Amongst Liars then follow naturally with the slightly more classic but frankly explosive The Insane Ones. Easy Everything then cuts through with their electro-pop flow on Words in My Head, which also offers some beautiful introspective lines. Finally, to close the playlist of the week, Nathan O’Regan delivers a captivating blues thriller. Of course, we stay on the dancefloor, letting ourselves be taken in by the sensual and dangerous Killer. Once again, the video is definitely worth a look! Now, see you next week!
