Strength, mystery and hope. That’s what’s hiding behind our playlist of the week, filled with promises and new singles!
The threat comes from the basslines… underneath water, Piranha are moving around, led by Nova Twins. The duo bares their teeth on this new extract of their upcoming album. And, yes, it’s a massive banger that opens the playlist of the week! Following up are Stolen Dead Music, and they push the volume up with 1956. Raw, this track of punk heart and textures is, through its vintage bits, a great way to let off some steam. In a more modern approach, Dewy Pines reveals a beautiful and mysterious energy, like thunder, through Nothing Wrong, their latest single. Next up is VELTPUNCH with Liar, both soft and powerful, thanks to its strong basslines, catchy backing vocals and incredible guitars! It’s one of my favourites of the week!
The Bohemes follow right up with the rather upbeat and yet pretty dark alt-rock Always out at Midnight. It’s a promising glimpse of their upcoming record! Even darker comes Adrien Martin, collaborating with Riley Horbacio on the deep and gripping Chasing Shadows. It’s visceral without being brutal. Then, another narrator takes his turn: Tip Stevens with the first single of his third EP this year, Sirens. Immersive, epic and pretty pop, it’s completely intoxicating! And therefore, it’s an unmissable favourite of mine this week! The atmosphere shifts naturally as Queen Bitch proposes their new single, Even if I Pray. Spiritual, dark, with a fascinating progression, it marks a new chapter for the band and doesn’t come alone but with the intriguing A Popular Song.
There, Undead Living picks us up easily and tries hypnosis. It’s amazingly efficient when it sounds like Dirty Persuasion. Clear, sensual and with a dose of mystery and vintage, it’s irresistible. Then the clear and ethereal vocals of Wombo shine through Danger in Fives. Their flexible flow, inspired by the ’90s-’00 rock vibe, really resonates with today’s mood. A tad more upbeat, but with quite similar aesthetics, we then discover Sorry Cheryl with their alternative mix of their song Halcyon Beach. Summery, light, it’s a track shining with promises. We close the playlist of the week with Machine Farm by PLANTING TREES. Humanist, politically engaged, with a wonderful, vivid pop-rock sound, the band is not here to give you a lesson, just an observation full of hope. And it feels really accurate with what we currently need.
