PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2025 #23

If last week the playlist took a much-needed, although unexpected, break, it’s back now with some seriously heavy hitters!

This week, the playlist kicks off with a walk through the Japanese mountains. Paige O invites us into her world with the refreshing Scarecrow Village, delicately balanced between gentle pop and soft rock. Just as fresh but far more raw, mehro’s lifesaver hits with a hypnotic voice and gripping build-up. It’s utterly striking! The mood remains dark and intense, but there’s a glimmer of hope lighting up the chorus of Into The Ether, a recent single from PAVÉ you won’t want to miss. With anxiety comes sleeplessness, and Yoann Casavona turns that into a catchy, relatively upbeat pop-rock anthem: SLEEPLESS.

Joseph Carré picks up the baton with a fun, vintage pop-rock vibe, lightly dusted with funk and bossa. Super Bossa Nova (Charlotte) is essential for your summer soundtrack! Following on, The Twin Souls serve up a sun-drenched slice of classic-leaning rock full of resolution and fuzz with C’EST LA VIE. Speaking of fuzz, The Hives certainly know a thing or two. The Swedish legends are already back with a brand-new single, Paint A Picture, from their upcoming album. Picture Parlour seamlessly follow with Cielo Drive, all swagger, style, and boundless class. The textures are captivating, the vocals unique, and their desert sound exudes freedom and ambition. I absolutely love it!

With The Ultra Violets, we dive into a more aggressive strain of modern rock. HONEYPIE is chaotic, sharp, and bursting with raw texture. It’s perfect for fans of big energy and deep bass. The Haunt, joined by MOD SUN, aren’t pulling any punches either. Their track Own Me, the opening number from their new album, is fiery, powerful, and just dark enough. We dive even deeper into the abyss with Calva Louise and their single Impeccable, a masterful definition of mixture rock, as they blend metal and techno in a way that’s unmistakably theirs. And to close out the playlist this week, who better than the masters themselves: Muse. The British trio returns with Unravelling and it’s nothing short of explosive! A powerhouse track in true to the band’s nature. Absolutely brilliant!
