It’s Friday, day of new releases and catching up! This week, the playlist is filling your cup with riffs, freshness and catharsis!
This week, the playlist starts with Shallow by Black Honey. Their new single is a true wave of dream-like freshness powered up with intriguing psychedelic touches. It’s perfect to jump in! With All the Other Sinners, The Jacques nicely keep up with freshness, also injecting in some colourful touches of psyche. With this enchanting voice’s timber, the band carries introspective lyrics about love and self-destruction. Up next is Strand revealing a modern indie-rock track tinged with pop: Strange Hill. Catchy, motivating and stubborn, the band sings their need to own their convictions. And it works so well! Right behind them is HotWax and their new single, Tell Me Everything’s Alright. Distortion is turned up slightly and the band grabs us along with them as they’re looking for optimism with a raw and charming honesty.
Krooked Tongue gets heavy guitars to resonate next. With You Don’t Need a Sun Tan, the band’s wonderful and infectious energy is an invitation to explore the unknown. Fortitude Valley shows a similar vibe as they accept many challenges. Through the bright Oceans Apart, the band tells the story of growth, adventure and happiness. Way darker in its theme, because it’s about the dangers of lacking affection, but as bright in its sound, Eve is back with a new single: Ghost Avenue. The Vocaloid artist proposes some catchy bass lines and some electro beats to die for! Next is French band Fidji. Their new track Morning Rain is a great example of modern rock, tinged with disco, thanks to its captivating melody. All that is on the theme of rebirth, which is never pain free but here really beneficial. It’s quite promising for their upcoming EP.
The rest has even more bite. Getting Ahead by Texoprint is a collection of portraits showing the industry under a new light. The jaded tone, the biting guitar… along with the cynic lyrics, they send chills down my spine. Projector won’t go down the cynic route with It Surely Has Been Hell. It’s a raging track build on the premises that the world is incomprehensible. Its atmosphere is cathartic, full of torn textures and it leaves us rather exhausted.
Some sort of delicate sound comes back with Calva Louise, on the intro of Tunnel Vision. Well, it comes back to blow up in our faces in the epic blend of hardcore metal and electro. Its chorus is quite hypnotic and once again the balance is wonderful! After so many strong emotions, let’s close the playlist of the week with some colourful gutiars and addictive electro layers. The result is the catchy, upbeat and unmissable Hadashi no ceccoli by Japanese band ORANGE RANGE. An ideal conclusion!
