Summer rolls on, calm and carefree, and the playlist of the week is back to bring some nice tunes to your ears!
No time to mess about, we need bass to kick the playlist off this week, and Tom A. Smith delivers with Fashion, lighting up the dancefloor as he goes. Energetic and delightfully catchy, it’s a strong start! Eleven Minutes Late bursts in right on time, bringing funk and distortion along for the ride with the equally infectious and fiery Caligo. No way we’re stopping there! Nicky MacKenzie delivers the poppiest track of the lot, with the enchanting I Should Go, full of vintage touches and funk flavours. Brodie Christ flirts with the dancefloor on Now I Can’t Dance, singing of love and respect over an addictive and breezy pop-rock sound.
Then come the vibrant tones of RADWIMPS on their new track Meidai. The nostalgic sparks of the melody perfectly matches the raw energy of the riffs, and it’s dizzying in the best way! Next up is KARDI with the intense Player 1. Electric, that epic chorus really hits! Nova Twins follow up seamlessly with the bold and direct N.O.V.A., featuring deep, biting riffs. Ménades bare their teeth too, bringing in softer, classic rock notes with just as much power on Hammer, taken from their album Sur leurs cendres.
The mood grows darker from here… and with good reason. Lights Out by Nova Dream echoes like the opening of a whole new universe, one where emotions run deep and raw. For SPRINTS, it’s their latest track Rage that gradually paints the scene, calm at first, then explosive. With equally powerful riffs and energy, Upchuck step in with Forgotten Token, continuing our emotional and raw journey. To wrap things up, and staying in the raw vein, we end on IDLES’ new track Rabbit Run. Intense and urgent, this breathless sprint makes for a dizzyingly captivating close to the playlist this week, finishing things on a very different note!
