It’s Friday! And that means the playlist of the week is here, with as many textures and intoxicating atmospheres as usual!
I can’t resist the urge to open the playlist this week with an absolute banger. Naturally, I place IRIS OUT, Kenshi Yonezu’s new single, as our intro. Its rhythm, phrasing, and energy are instantly irresistible! Also irresistible are Milky Chance and their new track Camouflage, thanks to its warm groove. We love it! Muo Duo‘s groove is equally bright. The band reveals themselves with the catchy pop rock of Exciting Times. We’re still dancing on Captain Kaiser‘s Dancefloor. A punk edge slips into the atmosphere, and the energy becomes increasingly persistent and stubborn.
The party isn’t quite over yet, but the vibe gets more electric, almost mystical, when Summer Bruises’ Death Disco kicks in. Hypnotic as can be, and full of distortion! And that distortion only intensifies with Low Fruit by ISTA. Vocals burst through the riffs, it’s raw, a bit psychedelic, and totally captivating! We’re then swept up by the tornado that is snake eyes and their excellent no cars, once again rich in effects and just the right amount of catchiness. More enigmatic, here comes Alix Fernz, who opens a door to a very specific kind of hell with HaHa!, a place where we meet our inner demons in the middle of a wild party.
TV Cult stays deep in contrast and texture with Overpressure. The band injects a beautiful dose of nostalgia into this week’s playlist with this emotionally intense track. VENUS GRRRLS follow with a very 80s vibe and wild, spellbinding, vivid energy on Ivy Tree. A track that sounds like an anthem, the end of a dark story, a new beginning. Ligeia also brings plenty of energy and contrast with Spit, blending acidic riffs with a fascinating ethereal voice. We close with Don’t You Wanna by Big Sleep, softer in rhythm and energy, but carrying its own kind of optimism in its soul.
