FLASH : MAGON / WILD FOX / BLACK PISTOL FIRE

Ding ding! We’re reaching the New Music Friday and we’ve found some real bangers. These heavy riffs are everything, so here are our reviews for them!

HOUR AFTER HOUR – MAGON

If sometimes we feel Magon a bit possessive when he sings ‘my girl’ on Hour After Hour, Yolanda, and Alexa, he offers us some really good time with his new record of the same name, Hour After Hour. We get sharp guitars and yet the atmosphere is still light, almost cotton-like, thanks to Magon’s voice, slightly backing from the rest at times. The whole thing makes us curious. Between solar and cloudy moments, Magon’s universe wears a clear veil that troubles our senses without blurring this opus. A record fitting its time that needs to be discovered now.

NIGHT HAS COME – WILD FOX

The husky voices from Wild Fox are welcoming us on their new EP, Night Has Come, and are followed very closely by a composition of striking riffs, burning everything on their passage. Under Rod’s Mind is a hooky introduction that sets the tone. A rough force, the message is clear, their garage rock is powerful, and nothing ever falls into the obvious. Vibrant, this new opus also let sincerity and vulnerability appear between two chords (Numb Legs), visible only if you don’t blink, yet very much here.

LOOK ALIVE – BLACK PISTOL FIRE

This is a record we’ve been impatiently waiting for since they’ve announced it. Look Alive is an opus filled with bangers, each stronger than the previous. It’s clearly one of the best firing albums of the year. The Black Pistol Fire duet already won me over with the excellent (and our favourite on this record too) Pick Your Poison, but the rest of their musical Kamehameha can be proud too and the whole thing makes me feel really alive. Hope in Hell doesn’t need to do much to get some ooh-oohs right on time. It’s definitely one of our musical crushes and ought not to be missed.
