And here comes Friday, bringing along the playlist of the week – and the start of the weekend! The selection is packed with saturation, so beware!
It kicks off fairly gently with a huge new favourite of mine. Bella Moulden strikes the perfect balance between smooth blues and wild rock with Saved. It’s irresistible, making it the perfect track to open the playlist this week. Next up is Regret by badcandy, featuring beautiful harmonies steeped in sensual, confident blues. It starts slower but remains surprisingly energetic. The infectious riffs of 5 Degrees North follow seamlessly, introducing Carvel Lane, which blends an old-school vibe with a modern rock sound that I love. Following them, The Fiends with Bad Actor, delivers some great guitar and bass lines, this time a bit darker. The melancholy of the track transports.
Forgotten Tides comes next with Lost Our Spark, which, despite a sense of bitterness, keeps the embers glowing, rather than a fleeting spark. This subtle upbeat feel is then amplified in another of my new favourites from this week’s playlist. Léopold Riou shines with Brut – it’s impossible not to set the dancefloor on fire with this one! Skinner keeps the flame burning in a more garage style, with a hint of funk in its guitar. Geek Love is sublime, addictive, and an absolute must! We return to a lovely sun-soaked blues base with Bleeding Out by Dylan Cotrone and his raspy, ultra-effective voice.
Next, we head into the desert with Griffin Benton. The Brit offers a deep, brooding rock sound and settles as one of the heirs of the genre with A Darker Shade. The next one is more rooted in a pop-hearted rock, lighter in tone. It’s Hijack Hayley, with their catchy Oh My God. THE STRAZE follows with crazy solos on the more classic Losing My Mind. It’s enough to make your head spin! Finally, Blue Violet wraps up the playlist this week with the ethereal vibes of Barefoot on the Seine, shifting from folk to electric with elegance.
