Even when the blog slows down, skipping a playlist of the week is out of the question! Once again, it’s packed with fresh releases!
The guitars roar with the opener of our playlist of the week. Floodhounds return with their electric One Horse Race, and I’m thrilled to hear them in top form with this new track! Their energy is contagious, and Belle & The Vertigo Waves follow with Dfl, a vintage hard rock touch that suits them perfectly. Next up is a fantastic collaboration between Noir Pixel and Samtar. On Random Forest, the two artists blend modern rock, scratching, and acoustic guitar, creating a mystical and powerful sound! Krooked Tongue then takes over with something equally heavy stuff as Let ‘Em Loose doesn’t shy away from riffs. Its softer melody contrasts beautifully with its energy, making it especially addictive!
We then enter a more nostalgic phase with Gum by Al3xis, where the artist offers a piece of herself through a very 90s-00s pop-punk sound. IOTA stays in the same vein with a bit more brutality and intensity on Smile On. Moving into something more pop, we have Fionn with their excellent feminist anthem BLOW, where glitter and big guitars take centre stage! They’re followed by the groovy Pink Skies with the brilliant Woah, which I absolutely fell for!
A slight change of mood for the final section. We discover Kylie Rothfield with her recent, tender Temporary, which brings light and blue skies to the heart of the night. Star Aurora tackles love and its silly games with 21st Century Love, clear and direct over an energetic pop backdrop. She’s followed by Bite me by Mary Middlefield, which evokes a monochrome, melancholic, and dreamlike Riviera with her clear voice and raw energy. To close out this week’s playlist, we find KiNG FOO with the epic, dark, and mystical The Edge Of The World, utterly captivating!
