INVISIBLE PEOPLE – CHICANO BATMAN
With summer comes a wish for sunshine and images from California’s coast. With the lockdown, inaccessible places are moving to us in many ways and settle in our imagination and living room. Chicano Batman’s new album is one of these. Invisible People isn’t just a sunny SoCal image. We see ourselves wondering about, in the warmth of a summer night, running along roads too long and too large to be followed by feet (The Way). Guitars are eloquent (Pink Elephant) and moments of melting-pot (Color My Life), we know this album has a lot to offer. Chilling, we’re melting as we listen to The Prophet. An effect from the sun? Maybe.

WINDOWS IN THE SKY – ALEX HENRY FOSTER
If the holiday idea has a lot more to do with winter, no worries, Windows In The Sky, Alex Henry Foster’s new album, is here for that. It takes us up North with Winter Is Coming In and other tracks bearing both freshness and worries. The Hunter is probably the most important song of all. Epic, the song has a length of just under fifteen minutes and takes us through a forest under the snow. It’s simple, we feel trapped inside a Scandinavian thriller directed by Lynch and with photography close from impressionist paintings. The album has been recorded in a church and has, clearly, some mystical marks that are enlarging the mystery around the story told here.

FETCH THE BOLT CUTTERS – FIONA APPLE
Talking about experimental, here is one of the genre taking us back closer to home. Time to discover Fiona Apple and her new album Fetch The Bolt Cutters, released mid-April. It has something homemade to it that makes the tracks run along softly, between crazy times and sudden quiet contemplation. We breathe, listen to the dogs, to the noises this house which isn’t ours makes, the creaking floor, and we add all this to our own sounds. At least that the effect Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Under The Table, Newspaper or even Heavy Balloon gives us. Folk-pop printed of comforting shamanic vibes, Fiona Apple is a delight.
