If you think about autumn, October is probably on your mind. To us, it’s the best time of the year. Whether waiting for Halloween in orange and black or sipping a tea gazing at the colour-changing trees, you’ll need an October playlist with a sexy, spooky mood. And we have that.
Slothrust starts it all with the brilliant Pony, an unmissable banger that will catch everyone’s attention. Get Loud is the collaboration between Ships Have Sailed and Abby Posner, and it’s simply splendid, heavy in its bassline, and mysterious overall.
Then, it’s up to Living In My Head, by Whale and the Wolf, and everything seems lighter – but that’s an illusion the band’s pop piano creates, sliding softly to worrisome tones. Sandy by SANSOM keeps that feeling. Shivers.
It is time for magic, pure and straightforward. It’s Spells & Incantations by George Fitch that will do the trick, with a blues rock that grabs all of our attention. As for This Empty City, they set up an apocalyptic atmosphere for Just Enough, when Rykarda Parasol shines bright with Get Down with Your Bad Self.
Safeword by The Bedside Morale brings some darkness, Backseat Baby by Cosmorat is cheeky, Desperate Breakfast by BIG SPECIAL comes from a Lynch, I’m Your Man by Why Nuts is made for a pit, Don’t Let It Win by Rolled Up Sleeves nails it, Come On, Come On, Come On by The Saucy Jacks brings some joyful notes, and Winter in Sokcho by Comic Sans is definitely in the right season.
In that long playlist, we also discover the great Break the Ice by Ben Cutler, American Cars by Ida Mae, Out of Control by Repeat, Impulse by GGOAT, Watch Me Rising by LodeLine, and Mona by The Allwells. All of them are as surprised as they are grand! The bonus too!
